The Phantom of the Opera returns

The world-renowned musical “The Phantom of the Opera”(produced by S&Co) will return to Korea after a 13-year hiatus. The Korean-language revival will premiere at Busan’s Dream Theater on March 30.


As the most performed musical of all time, the story of “The Phantom of the Opera” is well known. The musical portrays the events surrounding a disfigured musical genius, the Phantom, and his obsession with a beautiful and talented young soprano, Christine. Time and again “The Phantom of the Opera” has enthralled audiences with its gripping storyline and beautiful music.


Anticipation for the upcoming production hit a fever pitch when the cast list was announced in January. During its Busan run, the role of the Phantom will rotate between actor Cho Seung-woo, musical actor Jeon Dong-suk, and baritone singer Julian Kim. 


The role of Christine will alternate between soprano singers Sohn Ji-sii and Song Eun-hye. Song Won-geun and Hwang Gun-ha will take turns portraying Raoul.


Other actors performing in the production include with Yoon Young-seok (Monsieur Andre), Lee Sangjun (Monsieur Firmin), Kim Ahsun (Madame Giry), Lee Jiyoung and Han Bo-ra (Carlotta), Rim Park (Ubaldo Piangi) and Jo Harin (Meg Giry). 


Tickets for the musical went on sale on March 7 for shows happening between April 18 and May 7. Tickets can be purchased at the Dream Theater box office, or online through Interpark, Yes24, Ticket 11st and Facebook.
