City Hall has commissioned soaring missioned a fireworks display to promote Busan’s candidature to host the World Expo in 2030 at Gwangalli Beach April 6 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The annual Busan International Fireworks Festival is one of the most famous festivals in the city, attracting about a million spectators every fall. April’s special festival will showcase Busan’s willingness, attractiveness and ability to safely and successfully host a large-scale event.

The festivities will kick off with event programs, including introducing the World Expo, a talk show, performances, a countdown and the main event, the fireworks display.

The talk show will feature residents’ stories related to World Expos. Spectators will join the countdown event which will feature welcome messages for the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) inspection delegates and show the nation’s aspiration to become the expo’s next host city.

The city hopes the spectacular festival will capture Korea’s passion in hosting large scaled international events such as the 2002 FIFA World Cup and both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in 1988 and 2018, respectively.
