Following the massive earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye, Busan Metropolitan City has begun earthquake preparedness efforts. Related Materials have already been published and education development is underway.

Included are helpful tips to remember during an earthquake, such as:

When an earthquake occurs, immediately drop under a sturdy table or desk for cover. If a table or desk is not nearby, crouch in an inside corner of the building. Cover your face and head with your arms. Hold on tight and if possible, use a pillow to protect your head.

Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside.

After the shaking stops, turn off gas and electricity and open doors to secure exit points.

Only use stairs to evacuate; do not use elevators.

City Hall continues to collaborate with the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education to expand experience-based education for earthquake preparedness. Plans for additional on-site training and drills at 16 schools throughout the city are underway.
