Lights, camera, cashback: Busan's newest video contest
Got a good story about saving money with Dongbaek Jeon? Busan City wants to see it. The 2026 Busan YouTube Contest, “My Dongbaek White Paper,” is now open for entries through Oct. 27.
The contest invites creators to share real, everyday experiences using Dongbaek Jeon — Busan's local digital currency — and how it's made a difference in their lives. Dongbaek Jeon comes with plenty of perks: cashback rewards, transit fare refunds through Dongbaek Pass, QR payments via Dongbaek Plus at participating businesses, and Busan Pay for international users. Every entry needs to include at least one personal experience or a practical tip for using it.
Participants are encouraged to tell their stories from a clearly defined perspective, such as that of someone living alone, a small-business owner, an international resident or a university student. The only real rules: keep it under three minutes, and make it genuine. Vlogs, commercials, short-form clips, documentaries, even variety-show-style videos are all fair game.
Anyone nationwide, including registered foreign residents, may participate either individually or as a group.
A panel of judges will pick eight winners, splitting a combined 5 million won in prize money: 2 million won for the Grand Prize, 600,000 won each for three Excellence Award winners, and 300,000 won each for four Honorable Mention picks. Winning videos will appear in the city's promotional materials.
“The more Dongbaek Jeon is used, the more it creates a virtuous cycle that benefits not only citizens but also small business owners and the local economy,” said Mi-kyung Oh, a Busan Metropolitan City spokesperson. She added that the contest is a chance to spotlight the everyday benefits residents already know firsthand.
