There are several reasons to love living in Busan. The beaches. The café culture. The food.
However, perhaps the best perk of being a Busan resident is access to the city’s digital library – and not enough people are taking advantage of it.
Busan’s Chaegieum (책이음) is an integrated library system that grants users access to a generous suite of content, all for free. Individuals can register online or with a valid library card.
The e-book subscription service features 465,000 e-books and audiobooks from Kyobo Book Centre, Aladin and Bookcube, and members can borrow up to 20 books per month on each platform for a 15-day period.
The library’s online content includes access to educational resources, academic databases, arts and culture platforms, and so much more.
Users can also use PressReader, a digital service providing unlimited access to newspapers and magazines from around the world. Its collection includes major titles such as The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, The New Yorker, and The Economist.
Korean-language newspapers and magazines are also available.
Furthermore, Chaegieum users can access the Busan English Digital Library, an invaluable resource for anyone interested in English-language books for kids, teens and adults.
Every resident can benefit from a Chaegieum membership, so sign up today.
