Systems in place to prevent hotel price gouging

With K-pop supergroup BTS‘s long-awaited world tour stopping in Busan this June, the city has been actively monitoring local accommodations to curb price gouging. To prevent unfair pricing and ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors, Busan City is operating the “QR Code Reporting for Price Gouging” system, alongside rigorous on-site inspections.

This system allows both domestic and international visitors to immediately report suspected overcharging by simply scanning a QR code. Reports are made via the Korea Tourism Organization’s Tourist Complaint Center (1330) to the relevant authorities, including local governments and related agencies.

Based on these reports, joint inspection teams composed of city and district officers will conduct on-site checks to review compliance with business regulations and issue corrective guidance where necessary.

In addition, once the concert venue is finalized, Busan plans to provide practical recommendations for staying in areas with convenient public transport access to the site. This information will be shared via the city’s official social media channels, such as Instagram, serving as a key resource for visitors seeking reasonable accommodations with easy access to the venue.
