Save money while on the go with the mobile Dongbaek Pass
On July 1, Busan City will officially launch the mobile Dongbaek Pass. This unique transportation discount program rewards residents who spend more than 45,000 won per month on public transportation by refunding the amount exceeding that threshold, up to a maximum of 45,000 won. Refunds are issued via Dongbaek Jeon Points, Busan’s local currency.
Users with Samsung devices can register their Dongbaek Jeon deferred payment card in the Samsung Wallet app, allowing them to simply tap their phone when boarding buses or subways. Cards issued by Busan Bank and Hana Card will be compatible with the mobile service starting July 1, while Nonghyup Bank cardholders can use the service starting in October.
Dongbaek Jeon transportation cards can be issued in person at the designated banks (Busan, Hana, Nonghyup) or online via the Dongbaek Jeon app. Online applications take approximately 4 to 7 days to be delivered by mail.
Important note: Users may use either the physical or mobile card, but the refund calculation is based on whichever card has the higher monthly transportation spending, not the combined amount.
For example, if you spend 20,000 won on the physical card and 55,000 won on the mobile card, only the 10,000 won refund (the amount exceeding 45,000 won) from the mobile card will be issued.
Refunds will be deposited the following month, as with the current system. With the launch of the mobile version, Busan City expects to improve user convenience and encourage more residents to use the Dongbaek Pass while enjoying its financial benefits.
