Busan offers free pet insurance for adopted dogs
Busan is providing one year of free pet insurance for dogs adopted in 2025.
The insurance covers 70% of expenses for surgery, hospitalization or medical treatment, with an annual limit of 10 million won. It also includes liability coverage of up to 10 million won in cases where the dog causes harm to a person or another pet.
While the standard annual premium is typically around 150,000 won, adopters will receive full coverage at no cost for the first year. After the initial year, they may choose to renew the insurance at their own expense.
To qualify, adopters must meet the following conditions:
-Adopt a stray dog in 2025 from one of Busan’s six participating animal protection centers or two dedicated adoption centers.
-Ensure the dog is microchipped for identification.
