Classic Busan will inaugurate the Busan Concert Hall, the city’s first classical music venue, on June 20. A grand opening festival will be held to mark the occasion.

Located in Busan Citizens Park, the Busan Concert Hall is a three-story venue featuring a 2,010-seat main concert hall and a 400-seat chamber hall.

The main hall, the largest of its kind outside the metropolitan area, boasts a vineyard-style design for optimal acoustics and visual appeal. It will also be the first concert hall outside Seoul to house a pipe organ, drawing significant interest from music enthusiasts.

To celebrate its launch, Busan Concert Hall will hold a grand opening festival from June 20 to 28, led by its first artistic director, Myung-whun Chung. The opening concert on June 20 will feature Mr. Chung conducting Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” and “Choral” Symphony, performed by violinist Sayaka Shoji, cellist Jian Wang and other renowned musicians.

The performances continue with pianist Seong-jin Cho on June 22, Yekwon Sunwoo on June 23, and Mr. Chung playing the piano on June 25. The festival will conclude on June 27 to 28 with performances by the Busan Metropolitan Chorus and the National Chorus of Korea.

Tickets for the grand opening festival will be available through the Classic Busan website, with sales details to be announced later.
