장애인대회

The Busan World Disability Conference 2023, the first international event in welfare for people with disabilities held in Busan, kicked off on Aug. 7 at BEXCO, Haeundae-gu district.

The event, centered around the theme “Global Transformational Agenda: Current Challenges and Opportunities,” is expected to welcome an impressive gathering of 2,000 participants from 80 countries and six continents worldwide.

All conferences and exhibitions during the event period are free for everyone. For details, visit the official website of the BWDC 2023.

Dr. Walton Aubrey Webson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations, delivered a speech at the conference.

Dr. Webson was gracious enough to sit down with Daily Busan. These are edited excerpts from the conversation:

How do you view the significance of this event?

I think it’s a very important event for persons with disabilities and mainly for the community’s awareness. Very important.

How do you feel about being a keynote speaker?

Very honored. I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to share my thoughts. So it’s an honor and a privilege to do so.
