A new initiative is in place to alleviate miscommunication between Busan taxi drivers and their non-Korean-speaking passengers. Starting March 30, all taxis will issue receipts with key information detailed in Korean and English.

The new receipts are a response to issues regarding international visitors’ taxi experiences. About half of all complaints lodged against taxi services last year were about fare gouging.

The bilingual receipts will include trip details such as pick-up and drop-off times, as well as itemized surcharges

As of March 2026, Busan has approximately 18,000 taxis in operation, comprising 13,000 private and 5,000 company-owned vehicles.
