The Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum is hosting “Memory Box of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea” on the first floor of its main building until Feb. 23.
Organized to mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, the traveling exhibition is a collaborative effort with the National Memorial of the Korean Provisional Government. Its goal is to revive the history of the provisional government and highlight the achievements of independence activists.
The exhibition is divided into two sections. The first explores the leadership, key activities and history of the provisional government, from its establishment in Shanghai, China, to its later relocation to Chongqing. The second focuses on Korea’s liberation from Japan in 1945, the return of provisional government leaders and the contributions of Busan’s independence activists.
