Visiting a hospital in a foreign country can be distressing. To ease this anxiety, Busan has three medical centers dedicated to serving international residents, with particular resources for international students navigating the system for the first time.

The three hospitals are Joeun Gangan Hospital in Suyeong-gu District, Dong-Eui Medical Center in Busanjin-gu District and Daedong Hospital in Dongnae-gu District.

While services vary, each hospital is committed to providing the best possible care. Interpretation is available in up to four languages, including English, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese and Mongolian. Joeun Gangan and Daedong hospitals feature a dedicated foreign patient desk, offer priority appointment scheduling and provide administrative support for insurance claims.

Furthermore, all designated hospitals offer a 10% discount on medical fees for students not yet covered by national health insurance. This is particularly helpful for newly arrived students who often face relatively high medical costs during the initial coverage gap. In addition, international students can access various other benefits simply by presenting their student ID.

Students can also leverage their skills and enjoy substantial benefits by joining volunteer groups independently operated by each hospital. While Dong-Eui Medical Center and Daedong Hospital offer a 50% discount on medical fees for participants, Joeun Gangan Hospital provides a variety of other perks.

This initiative is part of the city's broader goals of attracting 30,000 international students and ensuring the highest standard of medical care for all residents.
