The Busan Metropolitan Library is turning September into a month-long celebration of reading, culture, and community. With author talks, themed lectures, exhibitions and hands-on activities, the program invites citizens of all ages to discover the joy of books.

Highlights include special lectures from acclaimed writers. On Sept. 17, novelist Tak-hwan Kim will explore the intersection of literature and art in a talk inspired by his novel “It Was Really Good” (2024), which is based on the life of artist Jung-seob Lee.

On Sept. 20, poet and webtoon author In-hye Hong will share insights with teens in a lecture titled “Sentences That Kept Me Alive.”

On Sept. 26, award-winning writer Hae-sol Kim, author of “The Juniper Tree,” will reveal tips for uncovering extraordinary stories in everyday life.

Families can also look forward to the Book Play Festival on Sept. 27 at the Plaza of Wisdom, featuring creative playgrounds, balloon art and outdoor reading spaces. Additional programs include audiobook screenings, themed exhibitions and more.
