〈아마존 사용자의 숨겨진 삶〉(2019)은 아마존 웹페이지에서 한 권의 책을 구매하는 과정에서 실행되는 끝없는 스크립트를 추적하는 작품이다. 전시장에 설치된 데이터 수치, 코드로 가득한 문서 더미는 소비자가 아마존 웹페이지에 접속할 때, 87.33Mb의 데이터가 활성화되고, 12개의 서로 다른 인터페이스에 의한 1,307개의 서로 다른 요청들이 총 8,724 페이지 분량의 인쇄 코드로 환산된다는 것을 보여줌으로써 기업의 인터넷 검색 엔진이 생성하는 이산화탄소량, 그 경제적, 환경적 비용을 사용자, 소비자 및 지구에 전가하며 책임 지우는 구조를 비판한다.
소비자가 브라우저를 통해 의도치 않게 내려받은 엄청난 양의 코드들은 아마존 수익 창출을 위한 핵심 전략에 기여하지만, 사용자를 향한 디지털 비즈니스 모델의 착취는 소비자의 눈을 현혹하는 인터페이스 뒤에 은폐되어 드러나지 않는다.

The Hidden Life of an Amazon User (2019) traces the endless scripts that activate in the process of purchasing a book on the Amazon webpage. The soaring amount of data and tower of code-filled documents installed in the gallery demonstrate that when consumers access the Amazon webpage, 87.33MB of data is activated, and 1,307 different requests from 12 different interfaces are converted into a total of 8,724 pages of printed code, thus exposing the structure by which corporate internet search engines generate carbon dioxide emissions and transfer the economic and environmental costs to users, consumers, and the planet, thereby evading responsibility.
The immense amount of code unintentionally downloaded by shoppers through their browsers contributes to Amazon‘s revenue generation strategy. But the sophisticated exploitation of users in the digital business model remains concealed and invisible behind captivating interfaces.
